Love Pack 2016 Project

Carrying Warmth into the Mountains Once More

A Year Later — A Little Older, A Little Braver

With the passing of another year, we’ve grown—just like the children we serve.

This marks the second year of the Love-Pack Project, and we’re proud to say it has officially turned two years old!

What began as a small idea grew into a heartfelt movement. From initial planning to on-the-ground delivery, this year's project was filled with compassion, care, and a shared mission—to let children in the mountains feel seen, supported, and loved.

🎒 What We Delivered

With your support, we provided:

  • Hundreds of Love-packs through our 25 RMB Sponsorship Plan, A total of 19,232.7 RMB was raised, and 19,232.7 RMB was spent.

  • School supplies: watercolor pens, notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers

  • Drinking cups, basketballs, and footballs, badminton set.

  • Dozens of handwritten postcards from donors around the world

(Note: Starting from 2016, we’ve discontinued the clothing donations)

A backpack may seem simple—but to a child, it can mean confidence, dignity, and care.

📍 Project Locations

Yiliang County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province

  • Zhonggou Elementary School (approx. 235 students)

  • Haizi Central Elementary School (approx. 472 students)

  • Datian Elementary School (approx. 539 students)

  • Plus: Emergency support to Xiangyang Elementary School (163 students)

  • Shuping Elementary School

Children’s Realities

Though most schools have been newly renovated, children still walk 4–8 km from surrounding mountain homes. Many are “left-behind” children living with grandparents while parents work far away.

Some children wake up at 4 or 5 a.m. to cut grass and feed animals before heading to school.

Their backpacks? Often none at all—just plastic bags or sacks.

Our mission: Make sure every child has a sturdy, love-filled backpack they can call their own and bring to school.

🚚 The Journey: Love Delivered by Hand

June Trip – Yiliang, Yunnan

Our team faced unexpected flash floods and roadblocks. With flexibility and teamwork, we adjusted routes and even redirected part of our supplies to Xiangyang Elementary, a high-mountain school in greater need.

November Trip – Zhaojue, Sichuan

After driving over 13 hours, we reached three remote schools and personally handed out learning materials to nearly 600 students.

Day two was the most intense: delivering to two schools across a mountain range before sunset—speeding through sharp bends, hearts full, hands busy, brakes worn down (yes, literally!).

But all the exhaustion faded the moment we saw those twinkling eyes full of excitement and gratitude.

Radical Transparency

Every donation and purchase was carefully recorded. We proudly maintain full transparency:

  • All income and expense breakdowns are open to the public

  • All donors are listed and acknowledged

  • Volunteer roles and task teams are documented

  • Minor local purchases with missing receipts are individually noted

See the complete breakdown on our Transparency Page.

Postcard Wall of Gratitude

“I’ll treasure this backpack and study hard.”

Each postcard was delivered to each child, forming a heartfelt hope.

It wasn’t just about aid—it was about emotional connection and encouragement that lingers long after we’ve left.

Thank You

Whether you sponsored a backpack, sent a postcard, helped pack or offered a ride—you were part of this bridge of love.

We are not a large NPO. We’re students, engineers, teachers, freelancers, stay-at-home parents, dreamers from all walks of life. But together, we've become something powerful.

This is what grassroots kindness looks like—real people doing small things, consistently.

Looking Ahead

One of our goals is to better understand which children need long-term, one-on-one support. We’re actively gathering this data and warmly invite anyone with experience, ideas, or resources to help us build a more sustainable future for these students.

Want to join the next trip? Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned volunteer, we believe that love becomes more grounded when we act together.
